SEGA and Sports Interactive’s Football Manager 22 is an incredibly in-depth game, but it’s lacking one major feature. At launch, there’s no Football Manager 2022 Versus Mode to accommodate competitive online play for PC and Mac. Fortunately, however, there is an upcoming FM22 online vs mode release date. Here’s the need-to-know info, straight from the developer.
When is the Football Manager 2022 PC Versus Mode release date?
The Football Manager 2022 Versus Mode release date for PC and Mac is early 2022.
According to the dev team, FM22 Versus Mode is coming “early next year” on computers. The developer cites research stating a lot of PC and Mac players would “dip in” to FM Touch on mobile, in order to take advantage of its Versus Mode. With FM22 Touch moving away from iPhone and Android for an exclusive Nintendo Switch release this year, Sports Interactive is keen to integrate head-to-head online matches into the main game.
Bringing competitive multiplayer matches across will require “quite a bit of development work,” which explains why Versus Mode will be absent from FM22 on day one. Following the Football Manager 2022 launch (October 9, 2021), the Windows PC and Apple Mac Versus Mode update will release at the start of 2022.
While not as central to the experience as PvP matches are in FIFA and eFootball, Versus Mode could be a really big deal. There’s no better way to prove which manager has the best squad than by pitting two teams against each other. There’s a lot of competitive potential in the FM22 Versus Mode, both for bragging rights between friends and on a larger esports scale.
