Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl is already a big success for Nintendo, though as is the case with any new game in the series, fans are wondering if the National Dex is in it — and, if it is, how they go about obtaining it. The National Pokedex allows players to record information regarding Pokemon from around the nation, not just the Pokemon resident to the region they’re currently exploring. The absence of the National Dex in more recent entries has garnered plenty of controversy for developer Game Freak, so does it make a return in this latest installment?
Is the National Dex in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?
Yes, there is a National Dex in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. This includes all 493 Pokemon that are included in the first four generations of the series, but none of the Pokemon that appeared in subsequent entries, given that these are remakes of the 2006 DS games.
This means that favorites such as Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur make a return, as players are allowed to catch all the series’ starting Pokemon — and many more — prior to the introduction of the fifth generation and beyond. The National Pokedex allows players to catch Pokemon outside of the Sinnoh region and then record their information for Professor Oak, who is the one who distributes the new Pokemon to the player.
