Spider-man 2 Graphics Modes Performance vs Fidelity Spiderman

Spider-Man 2 Graphics Modes: Performance vs. Fidelity Resolution and Framerate

The Spider-Man 2 graphics modes differ quite a bit in resolution and framerate between Performance and Fidelity options. Opening the Visual Settings in the game provides various choices for graphics mode, VRR, and numerous other options, so it can get confusing as to what the best options might be. Fortunately, you can flip between Performance and Fidelity modes pretty much on the fly, though you will need to restart the game at your most recent checkpoint. Here’s a Performance vs. Fidelity comparison for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PS5.

Should I use Performance or Fidelity Graphics Mode in Spider-Man 2?

If you don’t have a 120 Hz TV or monitor, we recommend using Performance Mode in Spider-Man 2. But if you do, we suggest using Fidelity Mode with 120 Hz Display Mode turned on.

With a 120 Hz screen, you will be able to have the 120 Hz Display Mode reduce input latency and enable higher frame rates. Like similar modes in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Hogwarts Legacy, this pushes the Fidelity graphics mode from 30 to 40 frames per second at 4K resolution. You can also opt to raise this FPS even further if you turn on VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), but turning VRR off or setting it on Smooth will ensure a smoother play experience. You can turn on the 120 Hz Display Mode option in the in-game menu or by going to the PS5’s general settings and choosing Screen and Video > Video Output > Enabled 120 Hz Output.

Otherwise, Performance mode is generally the better option here. This graphics mode has dynamic 4K resolution and targets a constant 60 frames per second by simplifying ray-tracing and lowering the density of traffic and pedestrians, which you may want to do anyway to make New York City less crowded. Some of the hair detail is also simplified to ensure a consistent FPS. That said, these sacrifices in visual fidelity aren’t huge, while the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps is more noticeable.

With some users reporting that the game has bad graphics, we also recommend that you turn off motion blur and lowering the Film Grain setting to 0 if you think the visuals look off to you.
