Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia Reveals Complete Roster for All Factions

Creative Assembly has revealed the complete roster of each playable faction from the upcoming Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia. It will have a total of ten playable factions from five culture groups, each with their own unique rosters and advantages. The game will be the first Total War game to be released under the new Saga banner.

Creative Assembly representative Michael Whelan announced the full roster list via a blog post on the official site, where he describes the unique attributes of every faction. He says that although the battles during the Anglo-Saxon period were dominated by shield-wall tactics, each faction still had its own specializations which makes them better at unleashing that core tactic.

For example, the armies of the Welsh Kingdoms had units that specialized in ranged warfare. The Gwined has great javelin skirmishers and archers supporting their spearmen units while the Strat Clut faction has similar ranged units, which support their powerful cavalry units.

The Gaelic armies specialize in skirmishers with their melee infantry as the backup. The Circenn faction is the only faction in the entire game with crossbow units whereas the Mide faction has the unstoppable Gallowglass infantry. Meanwhile, the Great Viking Army distinguish themselves through axe infantries and Berserkers, with the East Engle and Northymbre factions capable of fielding Anglian Champion units and Northumbrian Spearmen units, respectively.

Additionally, the Vikings Sea Factions has an impressive diversity of special units, alongside the added bonus of being unaffected by High Seas or Seasickness attrition. The Dyflin faction can recruit special Eastmen Kern missile infantry units while the Sudreyar faction can recruit the Norse Warrior sword and axe infantry units.

In other related news, the game’s director recently participated in an AMA on Reddit, where he answered several questions about the upcoming game, as well as revealing new information about how it’s not just a re-skin of 2015’s Total War Attila.

Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia was originally slated to release on April 19th, 2018. However, Creative Assembly recently announced that game has been delayed to release two weeks later on May 3rd, 2018 for the PC.
