Because God is dead and we have killed him, a Hotel Transylvania 3 game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on July 13. Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard puts you in control of Dracula, Mavis and the gang, and looks to play like a shit version of Pikmin.
You’d be forgiven for thinking the movie tie-in video game was conceptually dead, like 3D televisions or optimism about the US government. Apparently, this isn’t the case, as is evidenced by Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard, a video game coming to all major platforms this week based on the Adam Sandler animated film, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. In the game, you assume the role of Dracula, Mavis, and the rest of the Hotel Transylvania gang as they’ve been washed up on the legendary Lost Islands after a storm hits their cruise ship.
What’s more, when playing these characters you’ll be in control of “a lovable crew of little creatures called the Impa,” that you make use of to battle enemies and collect treasures. There are different varieties of Impa that you can discover, like the Frankenimpa or the Wolfimpa, all of which you can combine to master your Impa strategy. By the looks of its trailer, the developer has absolutely drawn inspiration from the likes of Pikmin and Overlord, with the player in control of a character who is in turn in control of a swarm of smaller characters.
The game’s release date coincides as a tie-in with the release of Summer Vacation, coming a day after the film release of July 12. I can only assume this is because after watching Adam Sandler’s continuation of what many would agree to be a masterpiece of the cinematic art form, you’ll be just dying to get your hands on an interactive continuation of the story. And you can do just that when Hotel Transylvania 3: Monsters Overboard comes to PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on July 13.
