Dontnod confirms Twin Mirror delay

Twin Mirror delay confirmed by Dontnod

Dontnod Entertainment has confirmed that its upcoming episodic adventure game Twin Mirror has been delayed to 2020. The Twin Mirror delay was announced in a press release that also confirmed the game’s PC version being a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store.

According to Dontnod’s press release, Twin Mirror is being delayed “in order to optimize the gaming experience and capitalize on Twin Mirror‘s success potential.” As part of this, the company is getting financial support from Shibuya Productions, who is coming in credited as a co-producer.

The same press release focuses more on the game’s PC version being an Epic Games Store exclusive. It states that Dontnod has entered into an “exclusive PC distribution partnership” with Epic Games. As part of this, the PC version of Twin Mirror will be exclusively available on Epic Games Store for a period of 12 months.

In addition to this, the company has also acquired the rights to the Twin Mirror IP. It states that this is in line with the company’s strategy to “strengthen its intellectual property portfolio and increase game profitability.”

“In line with our development strategy and thanks to our partnership with Epic Games, Dontnod now majority holds an additional key asset,” states Dontnod Chairman and CEO Oskar Gilbert. “We are delighted to partner with Epic Games and present Twin Mirror to the vast gamer community on its Epic Games store.”

Twin Mirror was first revealed as part of PlayStation’s Countdown to E3 2018. The game follows the same narrative-driven structure as Life is Strange, also by Dontnod. This time, players assume the role of Sam, who wakes up one day covered in blood with no recollection of the night before. Players must then solve the mystery and recover Sam’s memories.

As part of the announcement, it was revealed that Bandai Namco would be handling publishing duties for Twin Mirror. According to the press release, Bandai Namco will still be publishing the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
