Christine Weston Chandler, commonly known as Chris Chan (Twitter), has been arrested in Richmond, Virginia. Henrico County Police were seen detaining Chris Chan at the Regency Inn at 1500 Eastridge Rd. they were staying at after being forced to leave their residence on Friday by an Emergency Protection Order issued by Ruckersville authorities.
Why was Chris Chan arrested?
Recently, leaked audio and text messages that were allegedly between Christine and an unidentified third party indicated that Chris Chan was engaged in an incestuous relationship with their mother, Barbara Chandler. Due to Barbara’s advanced age and questionable capacity to consent, this could be a situation involving elder abuse and sexual assault. Due to the heinous nature of the leaked communications, they were forwarded to the authorities by concerned parties.
On July 30, Greene County Police conducted a welfare check on the Chandler household at 14 Branchland Court, Ruckersville, VA. The details of the assessment are currently unknown. However, as a result, the police removed Barbara from the domicile and took her to a hospital for examination. Additionally, a temporary EPO was issued against Christine, restricting them from contacting Barbara or entering the house until August 5.
The reason behind the arrest hasn’t been revealed yet. However, there are several reasons that Henrico County Police may have detained Chris Chan. Incest is a crime in Virginia, as is elder abuse, sexual assault, and rape. It’s possible that after examining Barbara, authorities found evidence that one or more of these crimes occurred, and a warrant may have been issued for Christine’s arrest.
It’s also alleged that Chris Chan withdrew $750 from Barbara’s account, which may have violated the EPO. This action could be considered theft as well, which could also lead to an arrest warrant being issued.
The police might also be taking Chris Chan into protective custody. The footage we saw of the arrest was from someone who was stalking about outside Christine’s motel room, and there have likely been hundreds of calls placed to the Richmond authorities after it was learned Chris was staying there.
