Pokemon Scarlet Violet Switch OLED Release Date Revealed

Nintendo is continuing its beautifying trend of reskinning its console with the Pokemon Scarlet Violet Switch OLED. This special edition version of the Nintendo Switch comes with a short but sweet trailer that shows off the vivid art spread throughout the console. The end of the trailer also reveals the system’s release date as November 4, 2022, comfortably two weeks before Pokemon Scarlet and Violet officially release on November 18.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Switch OLED features art of five Pokemon

Available in select stores, this special edition Switch OLED features exclusive art from the upcoming Pokemon games, with the legendary Pokemon Koraidon and Miraidon emblazoned on the front of the dock. The back of the console will highlight the trio of starter Pokemon — that’s Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly — along with several icons that players will see throughout their journey in either Scarlet or Violet. Continuing with the color scheme from the games, the left Joy-Con controller will be orange and the right Joy-Con will be purple. They will also have the school emblems of the Naranja Academy and Uva Academy.

Both in stores and the My Nintendo Store, this Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Edition system has a suggested retail price of $359.99. Unlike the two games, though, the console is not available for pre-order, and at the time of this writing, the purchase button on the official Nintendo Store entry for the product is grayed out and says that it’s simply “releasing in November 2022.”

The special Nintendo Switch OLED edition for Splatoon 3, which has purple and yellow coloring, is already out, but the Nintendo Store’s stock of the item is sold out. Other retailers still have it available for purchase so you may not to worry too much. But given the popularity of Pokemon, it would still be recommended to get your trigger fingers ready on the buy button the day it releases.

In other news, fans are angry over the monetization of Torchlight Infinite while it’s in closed beta, and the Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controller has been revealed with a release date that’s coming soon.
