Gears of War Tactics is just the third game in the Gears franchise not to feature the wave-based Horde survival mode. Introduced in Gears of War 2 and only absent in fellow spin-off Gears of War Judgment since then, Horde was likely neglected in this instance due to the challenge of translating its tense and frenetic gameplay to the tactics genre.
