Super Smash Bros Switch Playable Next Week at New York Nintendo Event

Nintendo’s games will be at E3 next week but they won’t be locked there. Today, the big N announced the E3 Experience event where Super Smash Bros Switch and Mario Tennis Aces will be playable. The mini-E3 will take place from June 11th to June 15th at the Nintendo World Store in New York City.

Eager Smash fans should note that, according to the schedule on Facebook, both games won’t be playable until June 12th at 5 pm EST. Starting on June 13th, players can play both starting at 9 am EST. Early birds can even line up as early as 7 am EST to get a head start.

While hands-on time with Super Smash Bros Switch is probably the biggest draw for most people, Nintendo is also having other events on its itinerary. The Splatoon 2 World Championship Opening Round tournament is kicking off on June 11th at 6:30 EST, which Nintendo said was happening earlier this year. The E3 Nintendo Direct will being the next day at noon EST, which will immediately be followed by a Treehouse livestream.

At 4 pm EST, the Splatoon 2 World Championship Finals will begin and will be followed by the Super Smash Bros Invitational. All tournaments, livestreams, and conferences will be streamed into the store. The tournaments are not taking place at the Nintendo World Store but the functioning Game Boy damaged in the Gulf War should still be there.

While we more or less know what Mario Tennis Aces is going to be, Super Smash Bros Switch is still a mystery. Nintendo has not even confirmed whether or not this is a port of Super Smash Bros for Wii U (à la Mario Kart 8 Deluxe), a new game, or a mix of both. Rumors surrounding Bandai Namco’s involvement have also loomed around the this title. But this mystique should evaporate on Monday during the Nintendo Direct where we will hear a lot more about the latest in the Super Smash Bros series.
